Weekly Spokesletter: It's important aid reach people who need it — and that Hamas cannot steal it
The Houthis attack Ben-Gurion Airport, the corrupt UN demands a role for Hamas in aid distribution, and Israel tries to stop a game of cat and mouse with Hamas.
Dear Global Spokescommunity,
If you play the piano and want to help the hostages, I need you.
Alon Ohel is a talented pianist with a place waiting for him at the Rimon School of Music. On October 7, Alon was at the Nova Music Festival. When the rockets started, he hid in a concrete shelter. Hamas terrorists, led by an UNRWA aid worker, threw grenades inside—killing most of those around him. He survived, with horrific shrapnel wounds in his eye, arm, and hand. He was dragged into Gaza. He’s still there.
Here’s a video of Alon playing Debussy’s Clair de Lune on the piano:
We are producing a global video tribute to raise awareness for Alon and all the hostages. We’re inviting pianists around the world to film themselves playing Clair de Lune as an act of solidarity and hope. We want to show the world—and Alon’s parents, Idit and Kobi—that he is not forgotten, and that there is a global Jewish Diaspora and network of allies fighting for the hostages’ return. There must be no one left behind.
🎬 How to Take Part:
1. Film yourself playing Clair de Lune (full or excerpt—whatever you’re comfortable with). You can download the sheet music here.
2. Record in landscape (horizontal) mode, with clear lighting and audio. Have someone else film you, if possible.
3. Optional: you may include a short message of support.
4. Send via WeTransfer (or similar) to info@newisraelidiscourse.com, writing PLAY FOR ALON in the subject line. DEADLINE: THURSDAY MAY 16, 2024.
Please feel free to forward this invitation to other pianists who may wish to participate in this act of conscience, compassion, and courage.
Am Yisrael Chai,
Eylon Levy
Head, Israeli Citizen Spokespersons’ Office
It has been an intense week of media appearances for our elite team of citizen spokespeople, as global attention was refocused on the war with Hamas Gaza.
This week’s media interest focused on the decision to resume full-scale fighting in the Gaza Strip, giving Hamas one last chance to buy a temporary ceasefire for hostages — or face the full wrath of the IDF, which will push to conquer the whole Gaza Strip. The media were also interested in the humanitarian situation in Gaza—and criticism of Israel’s efforts to deliver aid to civilians without it going to Hamas.
Our efforts are 100% donor funded, and if you want to support our global media operation please consider helping us reach our crowdfunding campaign.
I appeared on Al Arabiya English, to explain:
🐱 No More Cat and Mouse
Israel’s new strategy is intended to end the cat-and-mouse game with Hamas. Fighting Hamas then pulling out hasn’t removed Hamas from power, because it keeps coming back. The new strategy is meant to end the war—with Hamas’ defeat.
🚚 Aid to Civilians, not to Hamas
Aid must reach people who need it, without Hamas stealing it. Humanitarian aid is Hamas’ main financial pipeline. Israel is not required to send supplies it knows the enemy is hijacking in order to prolong this war. Anyone who cares about the humanitarian situation should demand the removal of the Hamas regime.
Avi Mayer, Former Editor-in-Chief of the Jerusalem Post, on RTE in Ireland
🍽️ Hamas Steals Aid - Israel Protects It
For over a year, Hamas has looted humanitarian aid to feed its fighters, enrich its leaders, and starve its people. Israel’s aid restrictions target terrorists, not civilians. A new delivery system will bypass Hamas entirely - aid will go directly to families, not to rockets and warlords.
🛡️ Civilians Aren’t Targets - They’re Protected
Israel relocates civilians to save them, not to displace them. Hamas embeds itself in hospitals, schools, and homes - using human shields as strategy. Israel is fighting to destroy Hamas without sacrificing innocent lives, despite the immense cost and complexity.
🚫 No Peace with Hamas - Only with Their Defeat
Calls for ceasefire ignore reality: every truce has been used by Hamas to rearm and regroup. Israel doesn’t want endless war - it wants an end to Hamas. Peace will come not through compromise with terrorists, but through their defeat.
Adela Cojab, legal activist, on News Forum Canada
🛑 Israel’s Goal Is Not Occupation - It’s Ending the War
After over a year of Hamas playing hide-and-rearm, Israel’s plan aims to end the cycle for good. This is not about escalation - it’s about dismantling the terror infrastructure above and below ground, so Gaza can no longer be used as a launchpad for jihad.
🧨 Hamas Promises More October 7ths - Israel Promises It Won’t Happen Again
You can’t negotiate peace with a group that pledges endless war. Hamas has openly vowed to repeat the atrocities of October 7. Israel’s military action is not revenge - it’s prevention. Peace begins when terror ends.
Fleur Hassan-Nahoum, Former Deputy Mayor of Jerusalem on Spanish W Radio
🌍 Israel Doesn’t Need Permission to Defend Its People
No sovereign nation asks permission to survive. October 7 was not a border clash - it was a massacre. Defense isn’t aggression - it’s duty.
🏗️ Gaza Could Have Been a Singapore - Hamas Made It a War Zone
Israel left Gaza in 2005. The world gave Hamas billions - and they built terror tunnels, not schools. Gaza’s tragedy isn’t occupation - it’s leadership. The path to peace and prosperity is clear: reject Hamas, release the hostages, and rebuild Gaza for its people - not for jihad.
🕊️ Israel Wants Peace - But Peace Requires a Partner
Israel has signed peace with several Arab states. The obstacle to peace isn’t Israel’s willingness. It’s Hamas’s hate-driven ideology and the refusal to accept a Jewish state. Peace is possible - but only after terror is defeated.
Asher Westropp-Evans on Silverbird TV Nigeria
🛰️ Iran Pulls the Strings - Israel Won’t Let It Act with Impunity
The Houthis didn’t build these missiles - Iran did. Tehran arms, trains, and commands its proxies across the region, from Hamas to Hezbollah to the Houthis. Israel’s response isn’t about escalation - it’s about holding the real orchestrator accountable.
🛡️ Israel’s Defense Is Strong - But No System Is Infallible
Thousands of rockets and drones have been launched at Israel since October 7, and most have been intercepted. Sunday’s missile that struck near Ben Gurion Airport is under investigation - and Israel will strengthen its defenses further. One failure doesn’t erase thousands of lives saved.
🎯 Civilians Are the Targets - And That’s Why Israel Must Respond
The Houthis aimed at a civilian airport. Iran-backed terror groups deliberately target infrastructure meant for everyday life. Israel defends its citizens; its enemies endanger theirs. No sovereign nation would tolerate this - and Israel won’t either.

In Part 2, we turn to the West: what does when many can’t tell the difference between the Hamas death cult and the democratic state it attacked?
Barak Herscowitz: Qatar’s Double Game
After decades of letting Qatar fund Hamas, and after months of treating it as a mediator, Israel is finally admitting: we got played by the Qataris, and now they have to pick a side between civilization and barbarism. I’m joined by former head of Israeli government comms Barak Herscowitz to unpack this week’s spin:
